Drip has four levels of integration. Most partial integrations stop at the first one because the free routes look complete on their own. Discover alone is not an integration. It returns metadata about articles the caller cannot read — titles, authors, prices, dates.

1. Discover

Post cards, titles, authors, dates, prices, publications, podcasts, company and entity cards. Free.

2. Read

Full synthesized summaries of premium posts and podcast transcripts. First paid read unlocks that post forever. Per post.

3. Analyze

Analyst stock picks, per-ticker calls, bull/bear views, full pick archive. Subscription or pay-per-use.

4. Operate

Credit balance and top-up, credit ledger, lifetime unlocks, subscription management. Account plus credits.

Routes per level

Discovery routes are free and need no credential. Read and Analyze routes are paid — see Payment Options for x402/MPP and API key + credits.

Building an app on Drip

Wire all four levels, not just the article routes. An app that shows article summaries but no analyst calls misses most of what Drip is for — stock picks (GET /api/v2/stock-picks) are the flagship feed. Two details that decide whether the app feels right:
  • Show the price before a paid read. priceCents is on every discovery card; quote it before unlocking so the user knows what the read costs.
  • Treat the first paid read as a permanent unlock. Store unlockToken (or the X-Drip-Unlock header) and resend it — later reads of the same post are free.

”I only wired search”

If your integration calls GET /api/v1/search and nothing else, it delivers post cards. Your users see titles and authors with no article content behind them. To reach Read, add one paid route call:
That single addition is what turns a discovery demo into a working integration. See Quickstart: API Keys for the credential setup and Credits for how payment works.

Ask your agent for a full integration

An agent that can reach a free route will usually stop there and report the integration as done. Paste the prompt below into the agent that is integrating Drip — the canonical copy lives at https://dripstack.com/integration-prompt.txt (copy button on dripstack.com/connect/agent):
The instruction matters: without it, an agent that stops at a free route reports the integration as done.
